Terms of Use

1. Who we are, and what this covers

These terms are an agreement between you and Hobby Double ("we", "us") covering hobbydouble.com, the app at my.hobbydouble.com, and the AI connector. By using any of them you accept these terms. If you don't accept them, please don't use the service.

Our Privacy Policy explains what we do with your data and forms part of these terms.

2. Your account

Anyone may register, with a first name, last name and email address, or by signing in with Google. Every account is reviewed by hand before it can be used, and we may decline one without giving a reason. You must be 16 or over.

Keep your sign-in details to yourself — you are responsible for what happens under your account. Give us accurate information, and tell us at privacy@hobbydouble.com if you think someone else has got into it.

3. What it costs

Nothing today. If we ever introduce charges we will tell you well in advance, and you will never be charged without agreeing first. Existing accounts will not be locked out of their own data because a price appeared.

4. Your content stays yours

Everything you put in — your records, notes, recipes and photos — remains yours. We claim no ownership.

To run the service we need your permission to store your content, back it up, resize your photos for display, and show it back to you and to anyone you have deliberately shared it with. Where you publish a project to your public profile, that permission extends to showing it publicly, for as long as you keep it published. That is the whole of the licence you give us: we will not use your content for anything else, and it ends when you delete the content or your account.

5. What you must not do

• Upload anything you do not have the right to — in particular, other people's photos or copyrighted material you do not own or have permission to use.
• Publish anything unlawful, abusive, hateful, deceptive, or that infringes somebody else's rights.
• Upload malware, or anything designed to damage the service or its users.
• Try to break, overload, or get around the security of the service — including attempting to reach other people's data, or hammering the API beyond its rate limits.
• Scrape public profiles at scale, or re-publish someone else's work as your own.
• Use the service to store anything that isn't hobby records, or to resell it.

If you break these rules we may suspend or remove your account. Where it is reasonable to do so we will warn you first and give you a chance to export your data.

6. Public profiles

Publishing is off by default and entirely your choice, project by project. Once a project is public, anything you have chosen to show can be seen by anyone, copied, and indexed by search engines. Unpublishing removes it from the site promptly, but we cannot claw back copies other people or search engines have already taken.

Think before you publish: don't include anything you would not want the world to read, and remember that photos can carry more in the background than you intended.

7. Connecting other services

Connecting Google Photos or an AI client is optional. Those services have their own terms and privacy policies, and we are not responsible for what they do. An AI client you authorise can read and change your hobby records within the permissions you granted it; you can withdraw that at any time from the account page, and withdraw Google's at myaccount.google.com/permissions.

AI clients make mistakes, including mishearing you. Check anything that matters rather than assuming an edit landed the way you meant.

8. Keep your own copy

We take reasonable care of your data, but this is a free service run by one person: we cannot promise it will always be available, or that data will never be lost. Export your data from Account → Your data from time to time, and don't let Hobby Double be the only place your hobby records exist.

9. Availability and changes

We may change, suspend or withdraw features, and take the service down for maintenance. If we ever decide to shut Hobby Double down altogether, we will give you at least 30 days' notice by email so you can export your data first.

We may update these terms. If a change matters we will email you before it takes effect; continuing to use the service after that means you accept it. If you don't, you can close your account.

10. Ending it

You can stop using Hobby Double whenever you like, and delete your account from Account → Your data. Deletion is immediate and cannot be undone, so export anything you want to keep first.

We may close your account if you seriously or repeatedly break these terms, or if we shut the service down.

11. Our liability

Nothing in these terms limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot legally be limited. If you use Hobby Double as a consumer, you keep all your statutory rights, and nothing here takes them away.

Beyond that: the service is provided as it is, free of charge, and we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, for lost profits or business, or for data loss where you could reasonably have kept your own copy. Our total liability to you is limited to £100, or the amount you have paid us in the last 12 months if that is greater.

If you use the service for business purposes, you agree it is provided without any warranty of fitness for that purpose.

12. Law and jurisdiction

These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and disputes go to the courts of England and Wales. If you are a consumer living elsewhere in the UK, you can also bring proceedings in your own courts.
